Louis A. Irion III followed in his father's footsteps as a furniture maker and antique restorer when he founded Irion Company Furniture Makers in 1977.
Antique restoration was the original focus of Irion Company. With this beginning, Irion has nurtured an advantageous educational relationship with museums and antiques dealers specializing in American Antiques.
The antiques boom of the 1980’s produced a greater awareness and appreciation for antiques and hand crafted furniture with the American public. Irion Company's reputation for quality and authenticity was broadened nationally with the help of this boom. The duplication of period furniture at Irion is done with the same understanding and artistry as the restoration, conservation and preservation of antiques. From the beginning Lou Irion selected and procured an inventory of lumber he would need to reproduce the quality of woods used in the originals. In 1995, Louis founded Irion Lumber Company, and turned the furniture shop over to the employees who had helped build his reputable business. A partnership was then formed with Richard Herzog Upholstery, a long time business associate specialized in the restoration of period upholstery and custom upholstery on reproductions. This enhanced the depth of the shop, enabling us to reproduce accurately all forms of period American furniture.
Today Irion Company offers the restoration and conservation of antique furniture as well as custom hand made 18th century furniture.
